Nazo is 13 years old and is from the conservative village of Nangarhar, which is the center of both ISIS and the Taliban. Like so many families in Afghanistan, Nazo’s family lives in poverty. Her father was a teacher in the village but when the Taliban closed the school her father became unemployed and he was also carefully watched by the Taliban. He decided to leave the village and move to Farm Hada, a commune, which is located in Nangarhar province. Life continues to be difficult for the family. Lacking money and the basics needed for life, her parents made a painful decision to ask AFCECO to care for their daughter.
