The Afghan Learning Initiative Global Network, a collaboration of 13 impactful organizations, is committed to providing life-changing educational opportunities for Afghan youth and young adults, with a special focus on girls. Our Mission

Afghanistan faces significant challenges, from extreme poverty and gender inequality to low literacy rates and insufficient educational infrastructure. The return of the Taliban has further exacerbated these issues, particularly for women and girls who now face unprecedented restrictions on their education. The Afghan Learning Initiative addresses these challenges head-on, with a comprehensive approach that focuses on sustainable development through education and skill-building.

We aim to empower Afghan youth, especially girls, by providing access to basic literacy programs, STEM education, vocational training, and certificate courses. These programs are designed to break the cycle of poverty, promote gender equality, and prepare the next generation for modern workforce demands.

Our Approach

ALIGN brings together a coalition of 13 public and private organizations, each contributing their unique expertise in education, technology, and community development. Together, we provide a holistic educational experience that focuses on both immediate needs and long-term sustainability.

The initiative collaborates with organizations like Classrooms Without Walls, Women In Tech (Afghanistan), and Generation of Change, ensuring that every aspect of education is addressed—from basic literacy to advanced technical skills.

By focusing on practical education and skills aligned with global demands, we aim to build resilience in Afghan youth, mitigate economic stagnation, and create opportunities for economic growth at a regional level. With a special focus on STEM and English language proficiency, we aim to prepare Afghan girls for the global job market and higher education opportunities.

Your Impact

Your support this Giving Tuesday will go directly toward Phase 1 of the Afghan Learning Initiative, which includes the formation of committees, phased funding distribution, and on-the-ground implementation by our partner organizations. Each donation will empower Afghan girls with practical skills and educational resources to break down barriers, dismantle gender disparities, and create a sustainable future.

• $100,000 can fund help with the implementation of Phase 1 for our Network. 
• Additional funding will support specific projects within each organization, ensuring that your donation makes a targeted, lasting impact.

Transparency is at the core of our initiative. Donors will receive detailed reports on how their contributions are allocated and the outcomes achieved. Each organization will share a summary and expenses report at the end of Phase 1, preparing for Phase 2 and long-term support.
