After forty years of war and suppression, art all but disappeared from Afghan culture. A few years ago, AFCECO children were lucky to receive professional instruction in drawing, watercolor, pastel and oil painting. Unfortunately, this opportunity came to an end, with continuing decrease in the funding of the orphanage programs.
Today, a great number of our children express their desire in learning fine arts. This is one way the children gain marketable skills and also reclaim their heritage and culture. We need a fully supplied art studio, and a master art instructor who can teach boys and girls of all ages who exhibit a desire and propensity for visual art. Students will be in the craft of drawing, as well as finer arts of watercolor and oil paintings.
Your support of the children's artwork will sustain this program as these young artists develop. Many of the paintings done by our older students have been sold and we need other students to produce more paintings to be sold to help increase revenue for the program. Please consider purchasing one of these very expressive and unique works of art produced by our very own students from the orphanages.
